- Found out the rear end gears were 2.73's. this is great because I want highway gears.
- Went to the junkyard to get this seat I have been waiting forever for and I came home with it and a 400 tranny and new gas, brake and emergency brake pedals, I also got a new steering wheel.
- Saturday, I put in the seat, pedals and steering wheel.
- Sunday I limped the truck to Terrell, and Kelly, Bill and I put the transmission in, but it slipped and wouldn't shift out of second gear! The tranny is bad... It was a great day, but not a good result.
- The next week, I installed a new-rebuilt 400 transmission with a shift kit, and it shifts great now. Thanks to Bill and Kelly for helping me do it the second time! Kelly helped me yank it, and Bill was there to help put it back in! It was nasty freezing rain all day pounding on the top of the metal roof shop, but it wasn't that cold inside. Everything went quick and smooth as silk this time.
- The guy started to jerk me around on taking the old tranny back so I very "politely" told him I didn't need his refund and I sold it on Craig'slist honestly as broken and got back my $100 I paid for it!
- Bill gave me a ride back in to Terrell the next day to pick it up and it was a great ride home although I discovered another oil leak that only happens on the freeway.
- The heater core also decided to go out after the first tranny swap, so it was a cold ride home. I replaced the heater core that night...
- I also installed new door locks, replaced the starter, rewired the rest of the engine compartment and got rid of the power drain using a kill switch for now. I also found out the harmonic balancer had a bolt that was working it's way out and banging around, I got it out, but the threads are stripped, so I have to replace it.
- Still waiting for the title to come in so I can feel comfortable to sue the guys I bought it from for damaging the front bumper delete panel.
