| March: I found out my 350 had a spun bearning and I have been wanting an inline 6 for a long time so I found a good used one online Saturday morning, and posted a Craigs list ad for my 350 as-is that same morning, and by the end of the day, I had come home with a new 250, and a guy came over and we pulled the 350 out! Now that's moving things right along! Check out the pics of this Junkyard 250 I bought for $325... that's right... this engine was rebuilt VERY recently ago! It looks absolutely perfect, I didn't even need to replace the valve cover gasket, just wiped it off. I also went by my exhaust shop and had a short pipe with a flange and donut gasket made, and I finally found the motor mount brackets that I needed for a long time. Took me a few days to get the gunk cleaned off the frame and strip it down and paint it, but it came out pretty good. Kelly came by and got it put in pretty quick considering we have to pull the engine and buy a new flywheel and the motor mounts were 1/8 inch off and refused to move. We ended up removing the engine perch that bolts to the frame and bolting that to the engine and that gave us more access to nudge the bolts for the perch into place. I got it running on April 7th. Would have been April 6th but I had to restab the distributor 180˚. |
