With Jim, our first drummer, we changed the name to B.C. There wasn't anything satanic in it, it stood for "Before Chocolate" just to mess with people who would seek to judge us. Jim had stars in his eyes, he was a driving force for us because he kept us playing when we would have otherwise quit for the day. Even though our fingers were blistered and sore, we kept at it. I would get out of school, go right to rehearsal at his house, (His mom was very cool and let us have the master bedroom for our practice room/concert hall) and we would play every single day until my curfew at 10pm. At around 11pm Maverick Michelle and Robyn the Hood would show up around the corner and I would shove my my 2x15 combo amp out my window and go to practice until 3am... I'm sure my mom thought we were out partying and causing trouble, but we were hard at work, of course it was fun too! The Castle" was a stage prop that encompassed the drumset. It was made from cardboard and had a staircase in front. I remember the day that everyone reeled me in to show me for the first time and I was floored on how cool it was. After a while we gained an audience, whether it was just from just a cool place to hang out or whether from us, it bonded some lifetime friendships. These were the "Best of Times in my life" because they helped me escape the ugliness of my childhood, and because it was great fun. |

| We were still beginners at that point, but Jim booked us into clubs anyway, that was a real eye opener. It taught me about 'The Show Must Go On" even though the world was crashing down all around. Ozzy, our singer, bowed out after the first gig, at RASCALS because that first night, he wasn't able to sing a word, He totally froze... He comes back in EVIL with Psyche and blows everyone away though! Since it was a two day gig, Jim, Psyche, and Robert took turns singing the songs on the second night, I didn't have the personality to try and sing. Some people ten years older than us called it a joke, but I wonder what THEY were doing at our age? Here are some full length mp3s, and some funny clips of us laughing at ourselves that second night on stage... |

Upon getting our singer Shawn, after a few months Jim was out. A power play I suppose, Jim was always the leader, but Shawn had new ideas about that! Jim wouldn't give up the band for anything, until he got an offer from a big local band called Warlock, and he followed his stars, after Warlock, he moved to California and played with the Napoleon Blownaparts, and currently with The Infamous Unknowns. Robert went on to other things also, all musical. Another guitarist that almost stuck around was Kevin, he was in the band a little longer than Robert, and had plenty of skill, but for some reason he faded. We also had a guy named Carl that was in just long enough to to play a couple of shows, the only memory I have of him is riding in his Monte Carlo on a rainy night leaving Rascals and driving by some guy getting killed just outside the club. |
